Joint MA in Contemporary Philosophy

Department of History and Philosophy of Science – University of Athens

Department of Philosophy – University of California at Santa Barbara

The best of both philosophical worlds

The MA offers students a solid background to the study of Contemporary Philosophy, and teaches the intellectual skills required for engaging with issues which occupy current research into the perennial problems of philosophy.

It is the only philosophy program run jointly by two prestigious institutions in California and Greece. It is also one of the few programs worldwide to offer courses on Ancient and Modern Philosophy, while focusing on Contemporary Philosophy, and to provide a specialization in the Philosophy of Physical and Social Sciences, as well as in the
philosophical issues that arise in the domains of Ethics, Gender Studies, Technology, and Literature.

Courses are taught by Professors from the University of Athens, the University of California at Santa Barbara as well as by Distinguished Professors from international institutions.

The Program’s duration is two academic years (24 months – 120 ECTS).
